On June 3rd, Unibail-Rodamco-Westftield revealed the names of the 3 winners of the Grand Prix Commerce URW’s 14th edition. The new rewarded concepts will open points of sales in the Group’s shopping centres in the coming years.
This year, the Grand Prix Commerce URW 2021 started with over 100 applicants in March, 8 start-ups were selected to pitch their projects for the final phase. And only 3 winners were rewarded by the Grand Jury, they were unveiled during a special Awards Ceremony broadcast on BSMART (replay is available here). For the first time in the competition’s history, the jury – which included Jean-Marie Tritant (CEO of Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield), Julie Villet (Group Director of Strategic Marketing and Innovation), Catherine Barba (President of CB GROUP), Tigrane Seydoux (Founder of Big Mamma) and Marc Menasé (Founder of Founders Future) – was assisted by the public in rewarding innovative and environmentally-responsible projects.
Unbottled – awarded the “Grand Prize”
The brand of French-made solid beauty hygiene products caught the attention of the Jury thanks to its 100% natural and soap-free efficient formulas. No more dodgy products in the shower, Unbottled’s mission is to free bathrooms from plastic. This new retail concept which is reinventing cosmetics in an eco-responsible way and proposing a new way of consuming, has been awarded a grant of €1,000,000 to finance its lease in a URW destination in France.
Deliroutine – awarded both the “Shop Prize” and “Public Favourite”
Deliroutine is an urban food market that offers 3 pop and offbeat street food universes: gourmet burgers, Asian street food and ultra-fresh Pokebowls and Ceviches. In this concept available on site, to take away or for delivery, everything is prepared in a “Live Kitchen” for maximum transparency! Fresh and premium products, with quality and customer satisfaction as the only leitmotiv: these qualities seduced the Jury as well as the consumers! They were awarded a grant of €400,000 to finance their lease in one of the Group’s shopping centres in France.
The Blond Cactus – awarded the “Pop-up Prize”
Finally, The Blond Cactus and its 100% customisable creations, composed of dried flowers and self-sufficient plants combined with recycled or handmade decoration also caught the attention of the Jury. This concept, rooted in the circular and sustainable economy, which imagines the greener and more responsible home of the future will benefit from a €100,000 grant for the launch of an ephemeral business in one of the Group’s shopping destinations.
Since 2007, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has helped bring small concepts to the forefront by giving them access to major shopping centres in France. Many of the former winners are now widely established brands: Faguo, Tediver, Caval, Big Mamma, Jimmy Fairly, and many others.
This year, more than ever, the selected concepts had one thing in common: their commitment to the improvement of consumers’ well-being while contributing to reducing the environmental impact of consumption, thanks to innovative and eco-friendly offers. We are very happy for the 3 winners, and cannot wait to see them in our destinations. Congratulations to all candidates and finalists, and see you next year!Julie Villet
